BEACH by Kim Guare

Clutch Gallery is pleased to present Beach by Kim Guare.
Beach is a collection of earthy hues that are found in the rocks of Lake Michigan. Beach celebrates the complexity of organic colors and the subtle differences in tones from stone to stone. At first glance it appears to be one color, but when we take a closer view the rock is made up of a wide spectrum of colors. The shapes in Beach are single colors that have been dissected from a small number of rocks. The viewer is invited to search through the hard shapes in Clutch and choose one to take from the cluster of hues. Beach runs through May 1, 2012.
Kim Guare graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 2011 with a BFA in watercolor. Presently, the majority of her work consists of sculpture and fibers. Her work is greatly inspired by the organic produce of the farmers market and her time spent working on organic farms. She will be an Artist in Residence this spring at Wormfarm Institute in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, where she will combine her two loves, farming and art. Her work will be on display at the Zhou B Art Center for Chicago’s Twelve: 12 Artists Mobilizing the Earth from April 20th to June 9th.
